StatViewer
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-21
This policy explains how StatViewer handles your information. Our commitment: monitoring data is processed fully on-device — no ads, no telemetry, no accounts, and we never collect or upload any personal data.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the StatViewer Windows desktop application (“the Software”). By downloading, installing or using the Software you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Local processing
All hardware metrics are collected and displayed on your device - no telemetry, no ads, no accounts and no collection of personal files. Monitoring data is never uploaded. Standard is fully offline; Pro connects to the network only when necessary, such as license activation and validation.
3. Network capability
The Standard MSIX manifest declares no internetClient capability, so Standard is fully offline. Pro (MSI/ZIP) is a desktop app that only connects to the network when necessary, such as license activation and validation.
4. Local data & files
The Software only stores a small amount of data locally: settings (by default at %APPDATA%\StatViewer\settings.json, or beside the executable in portable mode) and the Pro activation token (license.json). These files stay on your device and are never uploaded or synced.
5. Device ID (Pro activation only)
Pro activation derives a device identifier from local hardware information for license activation and validation; raw hardware identifiers are never shown and monitoring data is never uploaded. Standard does not collect a device identifier.
6. FPS monitoring
FPS monitoring uses Windows ETW to subscribe to display kernel events; it requires local administrator privilege only and never reads personal files or content.
7. Permissions
runFullTrust (MSIX): the Standard MSIX declares runFullTrust to read local hardware performance counters, WMI and sensor data; this grants no network or remote capability. No internetClient: Standard declares no network capability and is fully offline. Administrator privilege (optional, Pro only): FPS monitoring (ETW) requires administrator privilege; Pro may optionally install the PawnIO kernel driver (with UAC confirmation) for CPU/GPU temperature and power. Standard never requests elevation, never shows UAC and installs no drivers.
8. Third-party components
Third-party open-source components and their license notices are listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md of the project.
9. Policy updates & feedback
We may update this policy as the software evolves; the latest version is published on this website. If you have questions or suggestions, please open an Issue in our official GitHub / Gitee repositories.
